Prof. Christoph Trattner is a professor, research leader and adviser specialising in responsible AI, recommender systems, computational user behaviour and trustworthy technology. He is Full Professor at the University of Bergen, founder and director of the Research Centre for Responsible Media Technology & Innovation – SFI MediaFutures, and founder and leader of the DARS research group. His research investigates how AI systems shape human decisions, trust, preferences and behaviour, and how such systems can be designed to support informed choices, credible information environments and societal benefit.

Across more than two decades of academic and applied work, Trattner has built interdisciplinary research programmes connecting computer science, media studies, psychology, health, food and the social sciences. His work spans responsible recommender systems, AI transparency, human-AI interaction, misinformation, news personalisation, health communication and food recommendation. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to large-scale research and innovation projects involving universities, media organisations, public-sector actors, startups and international partners.

As a speaker and adviser, he helps organisations understand how AI systems influence people and how to evaluate, govern and communicate them responsibly. His work combines scientific evidence, practical implementation and institutional leadership in high-impact domains such as media, health, food and democratic information systems.
